Tooli contains many moving parts which may move without warning. Although the stepper motors do not have enough power to cause serious injuries, it is advised to only reach in the machine when it is turned off. Always disconnect the power before doing any maintenance or modifications.

Electrical hazard

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Tooli operates on 12 volts, which is classified as extra-low-voltage. Always switch off and disconnect the power adapter from the machine before accessing any of the machines electrical enclosure.

Laser warning

LASER SAFETY

The Laser tool-head supplied with Tooli is a class 4 laser device. Class 4 is the highest and most dangerous class of laser. By definition, a class 4 laser can burn the skin, or cause devastating and permanent eye damage as a result of direct, diffuse or indirect beam viewing.

The laser must be used within a controlled area from which the laser beam cannot escape. Ensure that the controlled area is clearly defined with appropriate warning signs. All person within the controlled area must wear eye protection that is deemed to provide adequate protection by the eyewear manufacturer for use with the type and rating of laser as specified on the laser tool-head. All pets should be removed from the controlled area prior to laser use.

Corner bracket When using the laser-head, Tooli must be securely fixed to a stable work surface to prevent Tooli from falling or tilting. Whenever the laser is in use, the laser tool-head must be firmly held in place by the dove tail slide and the laser must be pointing towards the work surface. Never aim the laser at highly reflective surfaces.

Tooli’s laser-head uses a high intensity beam of visible light that can generate extremely high temperatures when it comes into contact with the material being engraved, marked or cut. Some materials are extremely flammable and can easily ignite and burst into open flame. This open flame is very dangerous and has the potential to destroy not only the machine, but the building in which it is housed. Always keep a properly maintained and inspected fire extinguisher and/or fire blanket on hand. Never operate the laser unattended. keys

When the laser tool-head is not in use the interlock key should be turned to the OFF position and the key should be removed and stored in a secure location. Access to the key should be limited to experienced and knowledgeable adults.

Only operate the laser in a well ventilated area. Most material will only produce an irritating smoke when engraved. Some materials, including but not limited to paint, varnish, composition board and plastics produce compounds that can be harmful if concentrated. Never engrave or cut any material containing PVC or vinyl. When engraved, a corrosive agent is produced that will corrode machine components.

COMPRESSED AIR SAFETY

Some of the tool-heads supplied with Tooli require a supply of compressed air. If used incorrectly compressed air can be dangerous and may cause serious injury or death. Never direct a stream of compressed air at any part of your body or the body of another person. Do not use compressed air to cool yourself down or to blow dust off your clothes. Ensure that the compressed air supply never exceeds 65psi (4.5bar).
